| Okay, the six year old in me loves the idea of
a cupcake store…and leave it to San Francisco and its culinary delights
to do just that.
Kara’s Cupcakes now has a retail store on Scott Street. Their
flavors are fresh and sophisticated – and the ingredients come from
local artisans and farmers. My current favorite – banana caramel…or is
it passion fruit? Have to make another visit… Do I dare talk about eating cupcakes in one paragraph and fitness in the next? Yes, I do. While the occasional indulgence is one of the pleasures of life, your health is very important. Most brides and grooms care very much about looking their best on their wedding day! Koi Fitness is one excellent way to get in shape. The instructors will help you get a very strong workout in one hour four times a week, whether you are currently a tri-athlete or couch potato. At the end of the 6-week session, you will feel stronger and more confident – and probably drop a size or two. Need a way to wind down at the end of your busy day? A new hobby? Noe Knit on 24th Street offers fabulous knitting classes for all levels in a warm and casual environment. Want to knit sweet booties for your loveable newborn niece? Or a fashionable French market bag for you? Whatever your skill level, Noe Knit has a class for you. Plus, they have gorgeous yarns and supplies right there for you to ogle and buy. Don’t miss the once a month movie night… For the ultimate in quiet luxury, a visit to Reméde Spa at the St. Regis Hotel on 3rd Street (415-284-4060) must be made. The treatments are magnificent and if you haven’t fallen under the spell of Reméde products yet, you will. Don’t say I didn’t warn you – you’ll leave with an armful of product (and not because you’ve been pressured). The highly trained aestheticians can help you create a special beauty regime for the big day – but start at least several months in advance. By the way, the tranquil spa pool would be perfect for a group get-together. You can lounge and order room service! Even though I don’t speak the language, I admit I am a Francophile – I will own that farmhouse in Antibes someday, I will, I will… In the meantime, I was very happy when Péché Mignon opened on Clement Street in the Inner Richmond. It is a home décor store filled with lovely things imported directly from France… linens from the Basque region, porcelain from Limoges, ceramics from Provence, candles and sachets and jams and mustards... I personally love the colorful and unique family picture frames and snatch one up whenever I can. Keep an eye on this page, as we’ll continue to add the things that we love. And if we’ve missed your favorite, please e-mail us so we can check it out! |
